While waiting for Lovejoy hour I snapped this set
of Eta Car and surrounds this morning (02-Jan)
Seeing was very good, but thin, high cloud came in silently
about halfway through.
QHY-8 with an old SLR (film) 80-200mm lens. (set at 80mm) (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=84793)

Looks good Steve, Certainly shows how big this area really is and how many nebulous areas there atre in the area of Eta.

Look directly below eta, it might be an artifact but it looks like you have a short trail there. It's sort of bluish-purple in colour. If it's a trail it might be an asteroid.
