Hi All,
What a fantastic end of the year it has been with all the excitement of Comet Lovejoy.
Attached is the only image of fading comet Lovejoy I managed to take when clouds dispersed before sunrise on December 30th from Port Campbell National Parkon the Great Ocean road.
Stereographic projection of 12x30 second images with Nikkor 10.5mm lens and Sony NEX-5N camera.
Let 2012 bring clear skies on New Moon Weekends!
Cheers,
Alex

Nice work - that's an interesting projection! I really like the landscape you've embedded, since I usually see these projections with just a black circle in the middle.
That's a really cool effect Alex.
Top stuff.

Dave, Peter, Mike - thanks!
As usual this image was not planned, it was just the only one I managed to take when the clouds dissipated above the ocean before dawn.
Here is the link to a panorama I made later that morning at the Bay of Islands:

I didn't see this until it appeared on APOD either - nice work :)
The thing that is nicest about this image though is not the faint Lovejoy, nor even the slightly shall we say done before quirky projection but rather the beautiful colour of the sky, it's just magic Alex
