Recently I downloaded DSLR Controller (https://market.android.com/details?id=eu.chainfire.dslrcontrol ler&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMS wxLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5kc2xyY29ud HJvbGxlciJd) and installed it on my Galaxy S2.
I tried it out on my 40d but works nearly as good as the EOS Utility from Canon for OSX or Windows.
Nearly, as downloading images to the Android device is not supported yet but that is not a big deal.
It is now possible focusing on the (red foil wrapped) Android screen (with 10x) rather than a laptop, much more convenient. And presetting the exposure time for B(ulb).
It is still in beta but is usable.

Does somebody have experience with this ?

I've used a similar iPhone app called DSLR Remote which has some very nice functionality including live view & image review, the problem with any or all of these is the lack of intervalometer and long exposure control, simply being able to set existing camera shutter times i.e. the maximum value of 30 seconds or allowing manual shutter control is little more than a novelty. This app may have potential, but without image pre/review it's already behind other offerings and without decent interval/ shutter timer control it's as good as useless.

With the Wifi connected to you DSLR you can download pictures you take to your android tablet and use it to confirm focus as well plus a lot of other good functions as well ......

Just waiting on the TL-MR3040 to charge for the first time then flash the new firmware on to it then connect it to the canon 5D mark 3 and start taking pics from from our Android tablet with Qdslrdashboard ( Free ).

Hi Andrew,
You and others are welcome to join in !

I would hate to hear the price of a canon wifi Grip at least near the 1k mark !

At least I got a great wifi for my Canon 5D Mark 3 for $53 delivered ....
Battery is charged time to flash the firmware !

For The First time use it worked well !
Took about 10 mins to do the firmware hack .

Picture below is of the TLink MR-3040 connected to the mini USB port on the canon 5D Mark 2 with the canon cable that come with the camera.

App was Qdslrdashboard.

Works well have to fix a password and ssid

The TL-ML3040 has a 2000MAH battery in it .

I think its great. I've been using it for a while to control my camera using a 1st gen Nexus 7, and have had many happy hours of sitting under the stars while it does all the work :)

A very useful AP.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Works with Nikon and does what Nikon charged $200+ (Camera Control 2)

I bought an Android Tablet for $99 from Kmart and a OTG cable from Jaycar.

I may try the WiFi connection later, but the simplicity of a cable appeals to me.
:D

Installed this on my Galaxy S3 very picky on if it works or not. Installed on S5 same deal. starts then stops. Often can't find the camera.
Yes I have to correct cable. Have emailed/reported issues. No one seems to want to help.
Installed Magic Lantern. No more issue. But yes it would be nice to control the camera remotely

Hi peter have you got the latest firmware on the Tplink MR 3040 Router ?
We used it the other day for studio work on our samsung Galaxay 10.1 2014 Edition without a problem.

TP Link?
I'm going straight from Phone to camera. No router. Had to but a special USB cable to link it.

Hi peter missed the type of Dslr you have ?

I see you are direct connecting it to camera ....we are doing it wirelessly !

We are using a canon 5d mark 2 and 3 we plug the firmware hacked tplink MR3040 into the the USB port on the camera using the cable that came with the camera .....some people have used NON OEM cables and have reported issues.

I have a 60D. It's compatible and worked fine for a time. I suspect they have done a bug fix that maybe casing me issues. the host cable worked fine for a while.
I don't think it's the cable as I can still access the DSLR gallery with it. Just the controller side of the app fails to find the camera.
As I read maybe I have a cfn setting that is causing interference. I'll try resetting to defaults and see what happens.

Yes it sounds like when they have done a bug fix they have made another bug in the App.
Is it version 1.07 Android version you are using ?

For anyone looking for the apps and programs look below.

Link below to the Andriod ,Windows, Mac and Linux versions.

For the IOS version try Apple App Store look for Qdslrdashboard

The Andriod app you are using is it Dslrdashboard or Qdslrdashboard ?
Also what version is the app ?

The version Qdslrdashboard 1.07 has ony been out from August 2nd and has to be downloaded from the link ..

http://dslrdashboard.info/downloads/

For other people it is not in the Google play store !

You have to give permission to install non play store apps in the settings of your android tablet

Hi Peter,
Ok now I know the App you are using I have the 2 Apps on. My Android tablet but Qdslrdashboard works the Best !

It is free !
However I am using a Tplink MR-3040 firmware hacked router and not a cable !
So much fun using it we did a big photo shoot and ony used the camera control to switch the camera on and all flashes worked and we could view all images on the Android tablet including raw .

Just to let everyone know if you have flashed your Tp-Link MR-3040 with dslrcontroller it will not work with Qdslrdashboard .

If you Want to use Qdslrdashboard you have to flash it with the firmware from the link below.

http://dslrdashboard.info/downloads/

With this version you can if you have a Sony, canon,Nikon with wifi connect and use it remotely with Qdslrdashboard .....

Dslrcontroller can not do this ! only Qdslrdashboard can !

If it is a new Tp-Link MR-3040 router and it is the model with 2 Switches use the firmware V0.2-13 factory image !

With this version then you can buy the app for your ipad from the Apple App Store about $12 ... At the moment it has a problem working on IOS 8 ...they have fixed it and awaiting for the new one to be okayed by Apple then it will be able to be downloaded.

For Android ,Mac pc or Linux it is free see link Below.
