The comet continues to rapidly fade, so I did a 550sec exposure this morning with a 16mm fisheye (on 35mm, but equivalent to 24mm on the D200). Over 23deg of tail is still visible, although it is no longer obvious, and would easily be missed by someone who wasn't familiar with the sky.

Larger version, and maybe another image later if it looks any good, here: http://astro.gunagulla.com

Nice shot Gordon. Its odd that with it fading the tail is still so long.

Another image from this morning, a stack of 3 * 30 sec with the 30mm@f/1.4, ISO 1600. A meteor is on the left, and a satellite low on the right side of the comet.

Very nice views of the comet Gordon. I find it interesting that we have all battled with clouds right across this great land to see the comet.

Still a wonderful sight. All the best.

Beautiful images Gordon.

Would also like to THANK YOU for your wonderful comet this year too. It was/is around for ages, and i showed it to many people through my scope. Oh, I see it passed closest to the Sun on dec 23rd, definitley overshadowed by Comet Lovejoy.

You are also very welcome to find a great come for us too!! ;)

Thanks Liz, I saw some pics of it taken in Nov and it's looking quite pretty with dust fan and ion tail... I hope there is something left to see when it comes south again!

Chris, yes and clear again this morning, although I decided to get some sleep instead ;) I think I'll wait until it is clear of the bright star clouds before taking any more wide angle pics of it.

The moon is encroaching though in the evenings, it should be almost circumpolar now, i shall be up tomorrow morning for it, i may head to Bendemeer again if Walcha and Woolbrook is clouded out.
