Comet Lovejoy, 26 Dec from Terranora

I did finally catch the comet. This is just a single frame from the Lumix, I'd like to stack some multiple shots. What is the best program for a mac, or can I do it in CS4?

Did you try one at ISO400 at all??

No, I didn't - I have a couple at 200 but they were later in the morning and it is almost washed out by the dawn light. I did do some with the Blad on 400 but they are noisy and hard to bring up to a decent view.

You'll have to invest in a good DSLR:) Even a Nikon D3100 or a Canon 1100D would do :)

I see you have a H2 Blad....film camera though. It's got an ISO range upto 6400 but I wouldn't want to try and use film up to that speed. Can you even still get film for one??!!!.

Carl, I am primarily a landscape photographer, I sold all my Canon gear (I had a 1DsMkII & 3 L lenses) to find the H2, a PhaseOne P20 digi back and a range of HC lenses. Doe to the setup being primarily considered a 'studio' kit, ISO is limited. The newer and larger backs have a better ISO performance, but it all comes down to budget, as does everything. While I have been interested in astro photography for a long time (over 50 years) it is a side interest for me.

I don't have a film back for this blad but am planning to get one. Film is still available but it is now more difficult to get processed.

Replacing the DSLR kit IS on the agenda sometime down the track, deoends when the $$ become available.

Yeah, some of those digital backs cost as much as a new camera!!!!.

As for a film back....you'd probably have to invest in processing the film yourself, maybe. There wouldn't be too many places around, apart from specialist shops, that'd process film anymore.
