Hi guys

I'm back from the coast and in the mood some biff ... with the Weather Gods.

Arrived on the coast near Ulladulla (Kioloa beach) Thursday arvo ... weather cloudy and warm ... and it stayed that way until we left Monday morning:(

There was a brief break in the cloud Sunday night but by then I was too tired and sun/ocean ravaged to do anything about it. Also, it was hot and windy so little point having a look anyway.

I took both scopes; the 8" f5 newt and the 9.25 SCT. They enjoyed their stay in the spare bedroom in the cabin we booked:lol:

The good news is I bought a 5mm Vixen LVW which I'm looking forward to using, one day:rolleyes:

Good to be back with you all, though. I missed IIS.

Oh, and congrats to sooooooo many of you on your appearance in the latest AS&T. That's got to be some kind of record for the amount of page space occupied by IIS-ers? Well done all!

I know Ving. What was I thinking?

When you add the new purchase with the recent acquisition of the Pentax 10mm XW and 13mm Nagler, not to mention I only took delivery of the 9.25 in december, I reckon I'm due seriously ordinary weather/seeing for the next 6 months to a year.

But yeah, had a blast down the coast. Amazing what fun you can still have on this planet;)

Hi Holiday Matt,

you could try my new method.

Don't watch weather reports, do not check the cloud or jetstream forecasts on the IIS weather resources link, blisfully ignore the carpet of cloud or even occasional shower while you setup your scope outside. Decide you're going to get up and image something come hell or highwater, cheerfully drag yourself from bed and get setup all the while ignoring that cloud... and dang if it won't just clear right before your eyes, just as the eyepiec is slid into place. This has worked three time for me now in the last two weeks.

You just gotta show these weather gods that you're not to be trifled with :P ;)

cheers,
