Late this afternoon, in between rolling thunderstorms, there was a gap in the clouds which let the warm afternoon glow of the sun shine through.
As luck would have it, I could stand in the shelter of our verandah and centre the observatory.
Nikon D80 f=10.5 mm 1/160 sec at f/6.3
No comet sightings in this weather!

Wow, it almost looks like your observatory organises its own Rainbows.
A very nice shot indeed.
No comet sightings here either due to bad weather .

Nice one Chris, seen plenty of R/Bows, but not like that, well centered Foreground as well, top shot.

Thanks Liz. Now that you mention it - it sure does! Now wouldn't that mess up our dark skies!

Thanks Leon. The rainbow was perfectly normal; the ultra-wide angle lens makes it seem more compact, and because the rainbow is already curved, any lens distortion is disguised somewhat.
