M42 and the moon

I was out last night experimenting with the video camera on the tripod again. Both shots are 450 frames stacked in Registax.

Video camera is a Sony TRV320 with slow shutter mode on and set to 1/3 second exposure time, steady shot turned off and focus set to infinity, zoom on max (25 x).

My digital camera arrives back in the country next week so I can start taking some higher resolution images again (Oh yeah, the wife and kids arrive back too :D )

I assume you mean the bright white speck in the lower right hand quardant. To be honest I hadn't even noticed it and I have no idea what it is. Maybe it's sunlight reflecting off the retroreflector at the moon landing site ..... :lol:

I will check the original footage when I get home tonight.

Went out to look at the moon through the scope the next night and the white speck is there in the telescope.

Consulted a map of the moon and it seems to be a feature called Aristarchus.

Wouldn't that be "Kepler crater" at 'egress'?

Seems too low to be Kepler according to my moon map.
