Comet Lovecloud-finally spotted !

4th morning running and finally saw what all the excitment is about, Very Mighty indeed, well half of it anyway : )
I been 30k to the south end of the Gold Coast each morning to aviod as much LP as possible and finally this time a gap in between cloud & showers which I had a tarp over the C8 fork mount and camera, Surf is up to 2-3m, wind blowing 10-15 knots, salt filming the lens when the cap was off, Very hazy at ground level, ect !

This is one of only three exposures, other two showed less comet due to fast moving cloud.

Kit was a 600D, 18-135 IS @ 26mm.
Exposure = ISO 800, F6.3, 90secs tracked, ICNR.

Glad I finally have a Comet Tale to tell ?

Nice work, it has come up well. It was windy this morning, I went down to Hastings Point and was glad I took big Bertha tripod. Unfortunately my cameras are no good at higher ISOs and a cloud bank came up and overtook the comet, and as I got home it rained. Tomorrow I'll keep heading south and hope for a dawn shot.

Cheers Darrin, the dark cloud @ low left rained over 10 mins after the shot, has cleared here quite well today !

Hi Analog6, Yep, I had a normal tripod for the 2nd camera but it was way too windy up high as I had a barricade to shoot over, so the heavier C8 fork mount was the only 'G O' ! and the dark cloud to the lower left of my image was the culprit for the rain event, got me too : )
I only used ISO 800, as long as the lens is inbetween 15-30 odd mm, then the longer exposure, say a minute should Not create too much star trailing ? All the best :thumbsup:

Cheers Dave, quite a hazy gusty morning as shown by the Jetty lights, the immediate foreground is actaully the ocean surf swell, about 1.5-2m at the time !
