Hi Warren,
We went and saw the Buran OK-GLI model when it was out here in Sydney
about 15 years ago. This was used for aerodynamic tests. Apparently it was
packed up and shipped to Germany in 2002.

I still remember the iconic images of the Buran flying on the back of a specially built Antonov. Pity that project never got anywere.

Pity you missed it at the time, Warren. I recall it's maiden flight - then nothing come of it. I understand it was damaged beyond economical repair in a hanger collapse in the late 1990's?
Regards,
Stephen
edit: read the Wiki page - damaged by the hanger collapse in 2002. Picture here (http://www.buran.ru/images/jpg/bbur89.jpg).
