The quote by Commander Burbank on sighting Comet Lovejoy probably says it all -

Note toward the beginning of the video at 0.07 to 0.11, the satellite that comes up
just over the horizon through the glow of the atmosphere, just to the left of
the center of the image.

Perhaps all the more interesting because the Sun would be predominantly illuminating it from the
opposite side to that which the ISS is seeing it.
