After lots of clouds and storms recently, including 62mm in storms yesterday, I had a brief gap in the clouds this morning and was able to grab a few photos before the cloud covered the sky again

Welcome back Gordon! Beautiful image!

I was totally clouded out this morning.

Reminiscent of McNaught in 2007 a bit!

Was it visible visually or only in the photo?
If so, how did it look?

Thanks all :)
Yes, very obviously visible, I'd call it reasonably bright, nothing subtle about it at all- instantly visible as soon as you look in that direction.
Here is another view in HDR, that probably better represents how it looked to the naked eye.

Nice, I like that view. I agree probably more representative of naked eye view.

Fantastic stuff Gordon! Have also had a look through your gallery.

I think I might be going for a long drive tonight...apart from a brief glimpse of the end of the tail 2 nights ago have been totally clouded and rained out.

Yep, I'm thinking about a road trip tomorrow morning, Sydney is trash!

Lovely shot Gordon, you have nice skies up your way.

Cheers,
Jason.

I was lucky with the gap in the clouds this morning, it clouded up very quickly again as I was taking photos- continuing the pattern of the past month and a half- very little clear sky at all, it's not good for my off-grid solar power supply either!
Given how bright the tail is now, I suspect it should be good to observe and photograph for a fair few more days yet, even if the nucleus is just about gone.

Nice shots Gordon. It was clearly visible to the naked eye from Newcastle. Let's hope we get some cloud free mornings for more observations.

Much clearer this morning, although still one inconveniently placed and slow moving patch of cloud...

Gorgeous. It's a pity so many are missing out on seeing this spectacular comet in person, and therefore shots like this are so much more important. Thanks for sharing Gordon!

It's a shame there has been so much cloudy weather around, it is a truly spectacular comet. I traced the obvious the tail out to at least pi Lupi this morning, which makes it 22 degrees long!
I think I'll have to do some tracked photos tomorrow, if it is clear:)
