Hey my PMX is not appearing to slew properly and i just wanted to confirm what other PMX's out there do.
When i try to slew to a star after homing the mount or at any other time it will rotate anti-clockwise when viewed from the rear of the mount ie as if u are looking thro the scope. It does this for about 4 secs then tried to finish the slew to the selected star, often unsuccessfully.

So do others PMX's do this RA movement W to E thing as part of the goto ?

Also are there any Perth owners of PMX's that i can come visit to see theirs in operation ?

Do you have southern hemisphere selected in the Sky X ?
Its in the TCS menu box.

Mine goes straight to the object and does it very fast.

Mine too. No extraneous movement. Just goes straight to the object. Someone else posted something about what you are seeing on the Bisque forum. Is that You ?

Maybe a recent skyx update introduced this. I am not on latest version but a few back.

Other than that double check lat long, time and southern hemispehere settings. Also check daylight saving settings are right. Ie combo of daylight at GMT offset is correct.

Yeah was me posting on Bisque forum, not that i've had any response from the makers yet :(
It's set up for SH haven't tried to reset location as was ok before but can do, have even reset to defaults, loaded firmware and still the same .
So now i know this is not normal slewing, thanks for the replies.
Will reset location etc today try yet again lol.

Ok redid location to Perth australia time is same as comp clock and is out by like 0.5 sec when TheSkyX verifies, still does slewing behaviour and not reaches targer as well.
I don't know of anything that would make it do this ? Maybe i need a new board ?

How is your clutch sitting ? Move it from lock to free to enaged back and forward a few time,

Also maybe excercise the mount for 10 minutes and try again.

Clutch ? Do u mean the locking mechanism or ..... No haven't exercised the mount, esp with ota ontop that it made hit the pier when i was trying a T-point. Will try them out got nothing to loose. And to be honest why don't they exercise it when they quality test them ?

My MX is slewing normally and certainly has never moved in the reverse direction briefly as you describe. I did have slewing errors however where it would slew towards a target but not reach the target. This turned out to be entirely a software issue with the SkyX. Make sure that you are running the very latest daily build. The version I'm running right now is 10.1.11 build 5230. I don't know if this one is the latest but it does work fine now.

Well took the mount out for a short walk, 2 x 5 must have over tired it as it would not goto the first star i selected after i took it home :( Oh well.
Tried some others it goes in a triangle path to get to star if it works. Using latest build as of Build 5289. I think it's a dud, tried taking a pic yesterday all i could do was 30 secs unguided unless i wanted trailing, this was after a manual 17 point T-point that said alignment was good enough for both axes.
Guess all i can do is wait and pray for guidance.
Hey thanks for all the suggestions u all have given, some i had not tried gave me hope :) LOL

Try go back to earlier version of The Sky X.

Its not uncomon that a daily build adds a defect. I am using build 5223 and its working fine so have not gone to latest.

If you dont have one let me know. I will download it off my observatory PC tomorrow and email it to you.

Well well well, what did i find :) After cventer's posting of older build i had a look to see if i had that one. Alas no, but i did have 2 older ones.
Build 5230 works a charm slews like normal again !
Builds 5255 and their latest 5289 exhibit for me the weird slewing behaviour.

So who's brave enough to test this for us all in the southern skies to see if Soft Bisque has stuffed it up for us with their latest builds ? One person is not enough, if a few others get the same behaviour maybe they will do something about it, like put a Warning on the daily build, for us or even provide links to previous build so u can go back. Lucky for me i had one.

That's good its only something simple like that.

Chris warned me of an unresolved bug in later daily builds for the southern hemisphere.

So the newest and latest may not be better eh?

Yeah , not for me it seems, u willing to try them :) hehe
What i can't understand is if there is still a problem why is there no warning for us southern hemisphere users ?

Southern Hemisphere users are the minority.

Its probably just a matter of bringing it to the Bisques attention. They seem very responsive.

Guys, if you look at the website you will clearly see that the latest daily build download carries the following warnings:

Important Daily Build Notes:

The daily build of TheSkyX is only for those who want to get the very most recent changes to TheSkyX without having to wait for the next "latest update" install package.

The daily build might contain new features that are not yet fully tested and or documented.

[emphasis mine]

If you run with a daily build, you're a willing beta tester. :work:

And apparently if you're in the Southern hemisphere that goes double.

Unfortuanately to get even some of the basic functionality working you need some of the more recent daily builds and the website does not allow you to choose which one you take.

Best strategy is to find on that works or one that has not been updated for a while as you can then assume it had few bugs.

I try to download every 'daily build' and just keep them filed under their Build number. I can then revert to a previous working one if required. My current one is 5230 since I also had that wierd slewing problem. Nearly gave me a coronary! Slewing off in the wrong direction then creeping back slowly half way. :eyepop:

Thanks for the confirmation, have just reinstalled the skyx no build updates Works like expected :)
Will now add on latest build to confirm it works or not, even tho Daniel B says is probably not a build problem :)
Wish me luck hehe
Also ty all for the help so far.
