I'm flying to Europe on the 25th, giving a rare chance at observing the northern hemipshere. Is there any tripod that I can use with an F60 finder that will be compact enough to carry on the plane. Doesnt have to be an uber ultracost model, just something that is workable.
cheers

I'd recommend looking into the Benro Travel Angel carbon fibre tripods. Very compact and light, easy to pack and travel with. ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=benro+travel+angel&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=

The Benro Travel Angels are great little tripods, though I found them a bit too light for a DSLR, they should be OK with the SV60.
Not sure where you are going, but you can always get one in Europe.
Any of the major photo outfitters carry the same models (and more) that you get here, for about the same price.
The t'pod fitting on the SV finders is pretty universal - so no problem there.
FWIW, I recommend the Velbon Sherpa.
Dead simple, only about 200 grams heavier than a CF job and it holds my fairly heavy SV80 without complaint.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Prefer to buy here before I leave. Going to Hungary, don't know where I can buy things like this there. I came across these on the Bintel site:

edit - I just looked up the Velbon Sherpa, Teds list several models ranging in price from about 150 to over 300.... which one would be best? Don't want to spend to much and only need to be usable at low to medium magnifications.

Mine's the '200R'. I bought it locally in Leongatha (about 15% more expensive than anywhere else!) for $199. They're about $170 or so at Ted's or Michael's.
About $120-140 on e-bay IIRC, but they come from HK or China so doubtful you'd get one before you leave.
Hungary should be very festive if my friend's family are anything to go by!.
Have a great trip and Merry Christmas
