Hi Steve, welcome to IIS.
Congratulations on the new scope, you are going to love it!!
While there is no astro club on the Sunnie Coast, you are in luck. There are regular get togethers at Cambroon Observatory near Kenilworth.
Keep an eye on this section of IIS to find out when the next one is held. :)

Hi Steve, welcome to IIS, there are a few of us around the sunshine coast area, i moved to the sunshine coast about 6 months ago, but still havn't made it to a cambroon night it usually rains when i plan to go, your 10inch Dob will be great especially if you are away from the lights and have a dark sky area, if you need help about anything astro you will find it here on IIS.

I am also quite new to astronomy and just bought used CPC800 as my first scope. waiting for clear skies in the sunshine coast. It would be lovely to join events with other skywatchers :-)

Hi Mark,
I see you are not far from me.
Are you still running your viewing evenings?
Do you run them at the school?
Thanks

If you reckon there are too many "Steve"s have a look at how many "Andrew"s or "Mark"s there are.

Welcome to IIS Steve.

Hi Steve,and welcome to iceinspace:hi:
I have regular observing nights here at Cambroon on the Saturday nearest New Moon,You are most welcome to attend.
There used to be a club on the coast but for various reasons it folded about 10 years ago:sadeyes:
If you want to have a veiwing night away from the normal Saturday night, give me a PM or email and I will see if we can arrainge something:)
Cheers:thumbsup:
