Not happy!! Have a 4gb card that I cant access. Worked fine overseas, and is loaded with images, but the card reads that it must be formatted.
HAve tried in a few cameras, computor, and also a cable from camera to PC.
Have Photorecovery, but it couldnt find anything.
Have heard that if I format it, I will lose my images, then I read on some of the photorecovery sites, that I can format it, and then use card recovery software to retrieve them.
Help!!!!

Liz,

have a look at this thread...
I followed Dave's advice and got nearly all back.

Sorry to hear it Liz, most brand name card makers have their own recovery programs, even for erased and re-formatted cards.

Good luck.

Hi Liz,

Not having much luck with electronics lately:sadeyes:. I have found a freeware program called Recuva (http://www.piriform.com/recuva) that works great.

I wonder if it was the xray at the airport:question:

Alas, didnt work Steve.
Dowloaded the software straight from the Sandisc site Bo, but it couldnt find anything there.
Couldnt download that program Warren, have tried a few times, it says its unable to download.
Have downloaded about 5 different programs so far.

Ok .... coming to terms that I may have lost all the images on it, prepare thyself.

What a horrible thing to happen. I'm sorry for your loss, Liz.

It is the thing that scares me most when doing weddings. As soon as the card's full, or, I get a moment's relief, I download the images straight away to the MacBook Pro.

This just means you'll have to go back for another helping of Europe. :)

I agree with H. Throw them out and start again. We are to Portugal and the rest of Europe next year, planning already, and salivating all the time.
Sorry Liz, no help with your problem, except suggesting you do it all again, blame H, he said it first.

I like your way of thinking H!!!

Thank you all for your help, glass of wine time to clear my head, and will try again tomorrow.

If nothing happens by tomorrow I am sending it to Warren with my bung laptop, to see if he can work some magic.

:thanx:

Strange. Thats the second time I've been asked that this week. Two recommended (not by me, by an expert) options are

Search for stellar-photo-recovery.exe

or

ooh, how exciting, if I can help out let me know.

The only consoling thing is that I took 3 cameras over (4 if ya count the phone, which I took quite a few pics on) so have a few maybe on the other cards of the places I missed, but still.

Yes, downloaded that one earlier today, but it couldnt find anything. :(

Got it up and running Martin, but it couldnt find anything either. :(

Trying to work out what I had on it,and could have been much worse indeed. Earlier in trip, when my netbook was working I DL images to it every couple of days. I think the pics on it are from Alicante, Valencia and Zaragoza .... so yes, could have been much worse!!

I have some old slides Zaragoza and Valencia, I can email to you :)
Seriously though, did you try the card manufacturers website to see if they have recovery programs? Maybe a trip to the camera store and see what they can do?

If he has no luck, I'm willing to take a look, I worked professionally in data recovery for years, and usually get the data back.

One of the things I like most about the Nikon D7000, twin SD cards that can be set to automatically be a "backup" as you shoot.

Yes, did go to the Sandisc site, and thought that might have worked with the software they had. Downloaded .... Rescue Pro Deluxe was theirs I think. I have Card Recovery programs everywhere!!

No worries, thaniks for that Peter. :)
