Hi All,

Here is a mapped colour version of the Eta Carinae Nebula.

Red - OIII - 6 Hours
Green - Ha - 16 Hours
Blue - SII - 6 Hours

Total Exposure 28 Hours

RCOS 12.5" Ritchey-Chretien, Paramount ME & SBIG 2000XM

http://www.southern-astro.com.au/gallery.php?PhotoID=13

I am also processing a SII:Ha:OIII version as well. Which is coming out really nice as well.

Hope you enjoy it.

Cheers,
Brad Moore

Stunning image. The subtle colour changes (indicating different emission lines) is striking. Looks like much of the area outside the keyhole is mainly SII emission whereas inside its a combination.
Cant wait to see other emission nebulae done in this way (though the long exposure times the narrowband filters require will make it a necessarily slow process)

Fascinating, one of the most interesting images i've seen, knowing the emission filters.

Hello, Brad

What a most wonderful, gob smacking, awesome, and inspirational image to greet me on a wet Sunday morning after a failed night's imaging.

Thanks!

Dennis

Noob question time.

OIII = Oxygen3
Ha = Hydrogen alpha
SII = ?

Sulphur??

Hi EzyStyles,

No hubble, just from my back yard with super long exposures and a bit of tricky image processing. The hardware also helps.

Cheers,
Brad

Hi Starcrazzy,

I do love this hobby. I'm glad you get as much enjoyment from them as I.

Keep at it Dennis! My failed nights still far exceed my successful nights and that’s over a 3 year period. I'm now gaining rapidly on it. ;)

Just make sure your expectations don't exceed your hardware capabilities.

Cheers,
Brad
