Managed a few pics between the clouds yesterday arvo. There was a nice large Prominence. Still trying various settings with the new scope. The eyepiece view using a 8-24 Baader Zoom really is exceptional.

That is astounding. What is a scope like that worth?

Awesome Derek!!!!
....and as I have said before with other great Sun shots,
It looks like a shagpile carpet. I reckon from pictures like this, one could be made to resemble a nice center piece under the dining table!

Thanks for all the comments . The pic on the right was the best that afternoon. Must have been a window of better seeing. I also used a flat when processing due to all the dust on my sensor.

I'm tempted to drive the 617km to take a look at this beastie :^)
I've never seen anything like it, very much looking forward to seeing more images.
Is it this scope?

BTW, what is the advantage of using a GSTAR / Mallincam type camera over a traditional CCD camera like the DMK series?

Peter here's a pic of the scope it has a B1800 Blocking filter(the diagonal) which is better for imaging. As for the camera there is no advantage it is just what I'm used to and works with my current setup. I actually think the DMK camera's are the way to go for use with laptops. I am setup for live viewing and the Gstar ex has dual outputs(one to the computer via capture card and one to a large TV).
