I had a run at the California Nebula last Saturday. Imaged from Brissy skies with a 12nm Ha filter.
Scope: WO Megrez with reducer, F4.6 345mmFL
Camera: Moravian G2-8300 at -20
Captured with Nebulosity and processed with Photoshop CS3
16 x 10min subs
There appears to be some rotation at the corners .The Nebula was quite low and I ended up with a bad gradient in the bottom right corner, I think it is now even, comments/suggestions welcome

That would have been a challenging target from Brisbane, Geoff, and I'm surprised you saw any clear sky last Saturday. Well done!
Cheers,
Rick.

Nice going Geoff. I imagine this is a pretty tough target from brissy suburbs.

Thanks Rick, Peter
It sure was low, just skimmed over the neighbours house. I think the max alt was 24 deg. Just nice to get out and image something!

Mike, thanks for your kind comments. When the clouds clear I'll try for RGB data but I don't expect great results in colour at that altitude, fingers crossed
Congrats on getting such a great image Geoff. How high would it have been? You must have a great N horizon. Be interesting to see how you go with RGB.

Certainly a very good shot on a low object. Nice.

Thanks Rob and Marc. It only just clears the neighbour's house but enough to get the data.
I don't know how the RGB will go as it's only around 24 deg max altitude before it disappears into some trees, anyway worth a try :)

Geoff
That's a fine result with a really difficult target from Brisbane. Well done.
