Congratulations on your new scope Simon. Doubling the light collection certainly makes a difference. Looking forward to more reports with your new gear.
Hi Simon :hi:
Enjoyed your report- thank you.
When it started off saying "Mudgee", I though uh-oh the weather forecast for that w/end (according to Les) wasn't supposed to be good, but am so glad everything worked out for at least Sat. night.
I will have to congratulate Les on his big 5000!
M-77 is my new favourite galaxy!:D To me it looks like a rosette. It just looks so beautiful! One night, I studied it (from my backyard in suburbia) for what must have been a good hour. I swear that night I saw a blue tint to it- so much so I thought it resembled a planetary nebula. Well imagine my surprise when I read the next day that a blue tint can be seen on it. Perhaps I got it on a night of good viewing conditions (or good imagination?! )- My next obs on it was pitiful, the conditions were dreadful.

Thanks Patrick and Suzy, we were all stoked when Saturday night turned out so well and I believe Sunday was also spectacular (will have to wait for Les' report).
Averted Imagination is one of the best things in visual astronomy :)
