After a lllloonnggg process trying to get guiding up and running, I'm making some progress :D. Due to mount issues that I can't seem to resolve, I have given up guiding in DEC. This means good polar alignment is a must.
Anyways, here's my first ever attempt at capturing the Tarantula. Technical details:
Mount: EQ6
Scope: 8" Newt
Camera: unmodded canon 400D
Guide scope: 60mm f/11.7 tasco refractor
Guide camera: unmodded toucam
Exposure: 5x5min
ISO1600
Hutech IDAS LPS-P2
No coma correcter. I assume that's coma in the corners?
Flats and darks applied. I used Al's Virtual Light Box for this. First time ever using it so not sure how they would turn out.
Stacked using DSS and processed in PS
My next step is to learn image processing. I only have a basic understanding such as curves and levels.
I'm not sure on the colour. I know I won't be able to get the "red" colour given I am using an unmodded camera. Plus, this was the first time I used the LPS filter, which produces a blue cast. Any feedback would be appreciated. Not a bad first attempt if I say so.
