M104 Sombrero Galaxy!

My First Som Galaxy from the Meade DSI last night. Took a total of 11/1 minute frames stacked in RegiStax. Edit just alittle with PS. I was thinking with other DSI users, how long exposures do you normally set it on? I've noticed anything longer than 2 minutes it starts to drift hence why i only take less than 1 minute exposures.

Did a precise polar alignment again. Thanks paul for advising on rotation of RA with polar scope.

ps: I finally figured how to stack pics in Registax. Been stacking it automatically without any alignment from the Autostar suite. maybe why some of my previous pics have major star trials :P

That's one of the best pictures I've ever seen from a DSI. Whatever you did do it again with more deep sky and post more pics. :)

That is excellent! You have almost nailed the tracking too. The dynamic range of the DSI is not too great, is it? Stars are saturated before there is enough signal-to-noise for the DSOs. I bet soon you'll be wanting a DSLR. You are going for the most difficult targets in light polluted Melbourne; galaxies are faint and don't respond well to LPR filters. How about snapping us some planetaries with a narrow band filter? :)

not getting your DSI back h0ughy! its mine mine!

I personally think with the DSI that you need alot of patience. At first i wasn't convinced from pics off the meade website that you can actually take those shots from this little device. might look at investing the new DSI 2 or digital SLR.

By "planetaries" I meant planetary nebulae, not planets. They are as faint as galaxies, but unlike galaxies, a nebula filter will lift them out of the light pollution.

another question guys, i accurately did a polar alignment for this image. matched the exact octans region pinpoint accuracy, still the stars are abit drifted? anything got to do with PEC training or the gears on the EQ6? not exactly sure about the PEC training function.
