15min L @ 1x1
10min RGB @ 2x2
-25 Deg C QHY9

Nice HH. Really good actually.

Thanks Mark, Peter.

Ill be happy when i can put more than 2 ea of RGB into the mix, there really was alot of noise to contend with :( Almost brought me back to DSLR days :)

Though I am happy with the clarity overall of the image. I saw for the first time FWHM well into the 2's which is really splitting hairs.

That's a great Horsehead Brendan, nice detail, it has a lovely sharp look to it without looking sharpened, great work and well worth the effort

I agree with Mike! Imagine what this will look like with a touch more data! Awesome :)

That's a great image Brendan, it looks very crisp! I like the colours too, it has a nice mysterious look.

hehehe I spose so!

its definately not super bright, i didn't want to push the image too hard as the data isn't capable of it yet with far less than what is needed to make it smooth and really pop out. Though on my screen it isn't dark

Thanks Mike, I worked hard on the focus because Im still on manwell focus and the FWHM reflected that. :)

Thanks Osirisra

Ide like to put another 2-3hrs of data into this image to start making it come alive

Thanks mate many years of photoshop help in the persuit of a silk purse from modest equipment! :D

and the other from the top too.... pesky critters! I need a 11K or 16803 then they wouldn't be the nagging kid pulling on your draw strings!

Thanks rob, Im hoping to drop 4-5hrs of data into the image tonight if the weather plays ball. that will allow me to really bring the data up and show off the dark dusty parts that I know the 10" is capable of showing!

I streched the data beyond what would be normally acceptable to actually see whats there in the standard image and it is actually quite a lot but colour noise from the small intergration time kills the data.

Thankyou for the comments Steve and Dave :) Incredible Perth seeing did its work i believe looked at the data though CCDIS last night and the FWHM was well down for the RGB it was 1.5-2 and for the L it was 2.5-3 the lower fwhm i can attribute to 2x2 in RGB but for L thats raw! :) :) we have to remember that this is coming out of a bog stock chinese mirror not a custom hand ground and figured one. mmm i have my sights set!

Me and a few imaging friends are heading out to a site where the sky regularly reaches 21.5 SQM and beyond so here is hoping that i get some windless beautiful seeing evenings!

A beautiful HorseHead photo Brendan.

Great colour and so sharp.

The Horse Head is one object that I could never get tired of imaging. I look forward to it every year.

Thanks Ross, it i think was just one of those periods of the morning that the skies settle down and everything is just right and you get brilliant clarity! If only I had high end equipment it would have been twice that what it is :)

Greg

Sky Quality Meter its a measure of the darkness or lightness of your skies in a logrithmic scale in magnitudes per arc second ^2. My house normally sits somewhere between 20.5 and 20.6 which allows me to do 15 minute Luminance without noticing the light pollution really. at 20.2-.3 at 15 minutes im starting to notice a bit of light pollution, by the time your hitting 20.0. its limiting to somewhere about 8 minutes Less than that, your just shooting the breeze for fun.

There is a lot going on in this image Brendan, as soon as you can add some exposure (and I am sure you will soon) this is going to be indeed a great picture of the horsehead
