How to Build a Dobsonian Telescope

$350 US sounds like a lot of dough. I'm hoping it's correct, because I have TWO original copies of it in very good condition.....

You can buy Richard Kreiges book "The Dobsonian Telescope" at Bintel. Focuses on large aperture truss tube type dobs but has an eppendix on building small ones.
Would be much more up to date than the old mag you are looking at.

That wasn't quite the point of my post, barx...I was wondering if this is now a collector's item, and if so, I might sell my two copies of it.
Having built my own Dob years ago, I could probably do another one off the top of my head with a bit of planning.

It is a lot to be asking for a book that is way out of date, however, things are worth what people will pay. They may ask for that much, but I would't pay it. Even though it may be rare, only a true collector would pay that much; certainly not someone that wants to build a telescope. :question:

Trevor, a bit more checking also showed high price for this book, so go for it. But I would suggest you look at selling it in a bigger market, i.e. Astromart or Cloudy Nights. :)

Thanks, stardrifter. I did a bit of a look as well and saw the abebooks link...one thing I did note was that the copies on Amazon and Abebooks seem to be 1982 copies. Both of mine ( and I can't for the life of me remember how I came to have two) are 1980 copies and may therefore be 1st editions. I'm awfully tempted to sell them, but if they are valuable they won't be getting cheaper over time, so I might hang on 5 years and see what happens....

It doesn't surprise me that you have two copies :P I have brought so many astro books over the years that I have occasionally double up :D Mind you, the last one I doubled up on was Colours of the Galaxies by David Malin, which is just a renamed version of Colours of the Stars :question: I am not sure why they renamed the Colour of the Stars; maybe for a foreign audience perhaps? :)
