Jupiter 8th March

Had a patch of very good seeing this morning in Canberra, probably steady at around 9/10 for an hour or so between 5 and 6am.

Here's the first image that I've processed, it's from near the end of the session and shows the shadow of Ganymede in transit.

Bird, that's an absolute Ripper!:eyepop: :thumbsup: . The shaow of Ganymede is massive too, how long did the avi run as it looks a little extended.

Don't tell Matt... if he find out he missed the one 9/10 in the next 6 months he'll go ballistic :P

45 seconds on each colour, total time 2 mins 15 seconds. Probably longer than I'd like but it gives me about 1300 frames in each colour to play with :-)

I'd say we're in for more good seeing tonight but I need some sleep so I'll opt out on this one... :-)

any different processing with this one as it is spot on for mine compared to the 5th. I might like it a little lighter, but i am nit picking. This is really great!

I believe this to be your best this season from my point of view.

ppmcentre seems to have cropped right hand side or it may have bounced on the side of the field of view during capture???.

Another nice one Anthony, and I agree with Dave, the right hand side seems to be cropped a bit?

The rifts in the EQ zone are huge now! And that's a nice big white spot in the NEB. Plenty to see, nice work.

The shadow of ganymede looks a little elongated - was it because the capture was too long for the orbit speed of ganymede?

Hi guys, thanks for the comments.

Don't forget that Ganymede's shadow is falling near the edge of the disk, so it's going to be an ellipse.

Yes, Jupiter must have come close to the edge, I could look through and find the bad frames and discard them and re-stack.

naughty guide scope, needs a smack from bird and then a couple of feedback monitors to adjust your scope's drift and then a long exposure camera and then you can smack those DSO boys for six!!!
