I moved down to Tassie from Sydney about 6 months ago but have only just settled into a new house in the last couple of days. Previously I'd been housesitting.

Sitting here with the lights out looking over Port Huon (http://g.co/maps/c66az), had made me dig up my copy of Nortons to refresh my memory of just what stars I'm looking at :)
I've even gone as far as to identify the boxes the telescopes are in and might set one up for tomorrow night.
This is the first time I've accessed IIS in quite a while, the only other IIS contact to date has been in planting some chillie seeds I got from Alex (mental4astro)

Geoff, don't forget that the sky will be different down there compared to Sydney.
Everything will be higher up in the south, but lower down in the north

And also more chance of Auroras.

Welcome back to the skies :)

Mmmmm, chillies...

I've got 8 habanero plants going this season.

Have you managed to give a Tassie first light to your C8? Your big binos should be magic down there.

The big binos are set up but inside pointing out over the water so I can watch the boats sail past.
Not too difficult to take outside though, no steps to negotiate.

Not sure how the chillies will go down here. I imagine that frost could hit them hard. I have them in a pot up against a brick wall so time will tell.

Welcome back Geoff!

Nice spot to be in Port Huon. The Huon valley is Anna and my favourite part of Tassie. I'll actually be over the other side of the bay (Cygnet) on Wednesday night for dinner. Enjoy the skies from down there they can be magic.
