Hi all,

I've been reading about Alignmaster - I think it'd be perfect for my infrequent uses.

The question I have is - what do I need to connect my HEQPro 5 to the PC?

I presume ED Mod would be the most straightforward but what sort of cable to I need to connect to the USB port of the PC? Can I use the GPUSB from shoestring.

I'm confused by the host of apparent choices and the multitude of tech names for everything.

Hoping someone can provide some clarity to this dumby!

cheers

niko

Niko use a USB to rs232 cable with the EQmod module.
From the rs232 goto the EQmod module with a rs232 cable.
The gpusb is for the guiding(it goes straight to the st4 port).

PS: I just bought Alignmaster last week and still have to use it.
Also The USB2rs232 has to have a prolific chip in it to get the best results.
Jaycar has them.

Niko the easiest way to connect your EQ5 is to get the USB2EQ5 Interface Cable (5.9 feet) from Shoestring, then you don't need a EQDir module.
http://www.store.shoestringastronomy.com/products_eq.htm fourth down and the driver to download for it is third down.
I can hook it up for you at the SV camp and then align the scope.
