Dear All
I might be delusional but it seems to be completely clear outside at present. This is the first time for weeks. It does of course coincide with the full moon.
Hopefully I can take some pics of the asteroid if it stays clear.

I had passing cloud last night but was able to take a series of images of the asteroid. I will hopefully process them tonight and post when I can. I took 20 sec exposures through a V filter and it was trailing lots at that exposure.

Hey my first post on the forum.

Currently up bush, with the view to observing the heavens. So far nothing but torrential rain and cloud cover.

:hi: Aidan, scope sales must be going off over there in Melbourne. i can't believe how much rain you've all had.

Not long now before we'll be enjoying clear skies all night... and complaining about the heat

can't wait to see some of your pics Terry

Thanks for the welcome.

Typical I am down visiting the parents, beautiful clear skies, warm and still evening.

Left telescope at home on advice from weather.com...

Hopefully stays clear for a few days.

I was wondering whether you folks in the southern parts of Oz were having poor weather for star gazing. We have been having dreadful weather here although summer is supposed to have started. Over a period of 6 weeks we have had no more than about 5 nights to look at stars and then it has been through semi-cloudy skies. It has been so frustrating to me an enthusiastic beginner - had me down many evenings:(!

I have had intermittent clearish skies for over 2 months but there hasn't been a photometric night since September. It's currently raining.:mad2:

I tried to get out on Wednesday night, but seeing was an absolute crock and scattered cloud starting moving through. Don't think I've ever seen Jupiter boil so bad :mad2: I suppose I could've got some observing done amongst the gaps in the cloud, but the night was off to a bad start anyhow and called it quits.

well, I guess it's back to long term storage for the scope.

Let's say I've been doing a LOT of gardening lately. :)

Completely woeful in Melbourne , 10 years of drought gave excellent opportunities with clear skies, a year and a half of wet has dampened the enthusiasm.

Am currently considering changing hobbies, anyone want a very nice imaging setup ?
