Hi all. It's been a while since my last post. But am now looking for help. I actually have the entire weekend off next weekend and since it coincides with last quarter I thought I would try and make the most of it. I am looking for somewhere within about 2-2.5 hours of Brisbane that supports some good observing. Any help would be great!!!!

Thanks in advance:help:

Ok so I have now refined it down to about an hour from Brissie.

You'll find google earth is quite handy for finding nice dark locations. I found a nice oval in orchard country just out of the perth metro and only a half hour from home. Easy to park, a nice clearing to operate in and a sky almost as good as the outback, due to being up in the Perth hills and several km away from the nearest suburb.

You could try Moogera Dam. It's probably a bit further than an hour, although I haven't been out there for several years, some of our club members go there on a regular basis. It is reasonably dark and the mountains tend to block the coast and the Brisbane light dome is a reasonable distance away.

If you want company, try contacting the Brisbane Astronomical Society at info@bas.asn.au. Someone might be heading out this weekend.

Cheers
