Glorious shot Pete. Stunning. In the words of the immortal Marcia Hinns "That's Deep"
Can you explain what is up in the top left corner. It looks like a completely out of focus star or a shadow of the secondary and vanes???
Btw Can I borrow your clear skies :(

Thank you..
The donut is an unfortunate reflection within my ccd filter train. not sussed it completely.
I also had cloud move in during my green run. I lost out there for sure.

I think I've solved Pete's donut problem. :D
I'm alowed to poke fun at him as he is my imaging buddy! :) Aint that right Pete. :poke:
The donut is caused by light reflected off the CCD (from the bright star) then bouncing into the rear of the filter, then back onto CCD. The long 30 min sub exposure don't help either.
Cheers,
Brad

 Of course :P
I thought it might have been a dust mote, but I couldn't work out how it could be so defocused like a dust mote a long way down the optical train, yet so visible.
thanks for that
Fantastic shot.
Could you post some specs about the image please Aussie Pete?
