A nice collection Derek – you must have been busy collecting all those images through the various instrument configurations and filters, not to mention the processing!

Cheers

Very nice Derek, amazing detail you have captured there.

Can you share with us a bit more about the equipment and tecniques that you use?

John my basic setup is a HEQ5Pro mount with either a 127mm Refractor and piggybacked 60mm Daystar Ha Scope.Or the Daystar scope side by side with a 100 mmED refractor on the same mount. The refractors are fitted with a 2" Lunt Wedge with a 2" Baader Solar Continuum Filter for white light.(The eyepiece views here are far better than anything I can record) .For the CaK shots I place a Baader3.8ND Filter(Home made) over either the 100 0r 127mm refractor and screw the Baader K-line filter into a 1.25" diagonal then mount my camera(A GSTAREX video camera) into the eyepiece. This set up is not for visual use and as yet although it shows more surface granulation I cannot achieve the sharpness that the Lunt Wedge achieves for the actual Sunspots.
As for techniques I'm pretty rough I basically capture 1000 frame AVIs stack them in Registax5 and hope for the best. A bit of post processing in Picasa and thats it.
Hope that helps. As time goes by I hope that one day I'll be able to produce images similar to the high res shots posted by others on this forum.
