G'day all,

I bought my 350D on Saturday. Conveniently that night was Lunatics night for ASWA (local astronomy club) so I took it along there to do some imaging, not of the moon - wish it'd just stay away, but of wide field stuff.

Heavily light polluted site (not a problem for lunar viewing!) but still I was happy with the results for the first night out.

Eta Carina @ 200mm
Southern Cross @ 70mm
Southern Cross, Pointers, Eta, etc @ 17mm

See them all at:

I had made sure before I bought the camera I had DSLRFocus, the required serial cable, and lots of batteries, so was all ready to go.

They haven't outdone the quality of my comparative film shots yet, but I know they will quickly.

Roger.

Very Nice Roger! I take it you have defocused the stars at some point in one exposure to get the effect on the bright stars? or is it just cirrus or conditions?,
anyway what a great start :)

Yeap, I use a Cokin diffuser filter to keep the nice star colour. haven't worked out how to attach it to my telescope over the years, so only use it on camera lens shots.

I quite like the effect because I like to see the star colour, not everyone likes it though.

Roger.
