Ngc 253

Hi all, Only got a 40 minute go at this popular galaxy before the cloud cut me short last night. This is 18 x 2 minute exposures with Astrograph and Astro 40D.

What was the focal length?

Hi Shaun, thanks for your comments. Focal length was 530mm. Takahashi 160mm F3.3 Epsilon Astrograph.

Very nice image of 253, just getting into some DSLR imaging myself.

I believe, about 18 years ago you sent me some astrophos taken with a 16" F/4.5 scope you made? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Still got them in my album.

Hi Justin, I cannot remember, but very likely. As I did have a Meade DS 16" F4.5 optics that I assembled in a square tube I made. Was mounted on a Astro Optical Supplies, Goliath mount.

During the 1980s I spent many hours with film taking astro photos. I am very happy I made the switch to digital, and am Not missing the fumes of chemical in the darkroom.
