I purchased a Sony nex5 about a year ago and have been impressed with its overall performance. The chip in these cameras is very large and and I was wondering if anyone has heard of attempts to modify one for AP.

Crikey, I'm not that brave, I'll use mine au natural. It is working quite well as it is to be honest. You sure you need to modify it Matt?

Thanks. Hardly brave, hence the investigating. I would be interested in seeing some deep sky examples from an unmodified unit as I thought the IR was attenuated. Thanks for the links as well.

I am only getting started with my NEX5 imaging, and the weather plus other new bits of gear keep getting in the way.
Certainly for globs etc, there is no real gain to my mind. For nebulosity though yes, although the quick test I did recently on a bright pairing showed promise.

Thanks again to all for the advice. The un modded shots make me think I may purchase an adaptor but I like the camera too much to modify for now. I understand about 'other bits getting in the way' gbeal. I love my OTA when it is properly collimated. the mount is however, a cow. I nearly have the dosh for a NEQ pro which would be the wisest investment. thanks again.
