After 5 years in Roma looks like I will be moving on in the next month or so. My employer as decided they no longer want me and will running the faculty I manage from Toowoomba.
I didn't realize how much junk I have accumulated in the last 5 years and there are still boxes that have not been unpacked since our move from Mt Isa. We already taken 3 trailer loads to the dump and working on the 4th not all junk and rubbish but stuff we can't take with us.

Keep an eye on the classifieds as I have a bit of not junky astro stuff I am sorting.

At this point in time I have no idea. I don't think I will have too much trouble with work anywhere, I am a TQ Boilermaker and my wife as a diploma in business admin I could have a job here in Roma tomorrow, but it's finding accommodation at a reasonable price. Current rentals in Roma range from 400 (for a dump) to 1500 for a nice place a week, this one wants 15000 bond. Unless I get into the coal and gas industry out here I wouldn't afford to live here.

Lots of high paying jobs for Boilermakers up here a shortage of skilled tradespeople. The only down side is accomadation can be hard to find.

I wonder how many IIS members have lost their job due to the GFC and its subsequent need for cost cutting? :(

Sorry to hear you lost your job Adrian, but you are not alone. I was made redundant (such a horrible word really) due to the GFC in 2008. However, I have my first interview in over two years on Monday. This job wasn't advertised, so I am hopeful. :)

Plenty of jobs in WA for Boilermakers in the mining industry, but you would face the same problem with rent in most of the mining towns here. That's why most people FIFO.

I would be happy with FIFO or DIDO at the moment. All my plans to build at Yarraman, our retirement home, have to be put on hold for awhile
