"Neutron Stars: Nature's Most Extreme Quantum Laboratories" by Prof. Andrew Melatos @ 7:30 pm
Prof. Andrew Melatos (http://www.ph.unimelb.edu.au/%7Eamelatos/) is a theoretical physicist who studies the fundamental behaviour of matter under extreme physical conditions; is is also a world expert in applying Einstein's theory of gravity to cosmic objects. His research covers high-energy phenomena, including neutron stars, supernovae and gravitational waves. His talk on extreme stars will encompass physical principles of the very small to the very largest.

Hey Craig,

I saw the Green lasers on Sat evening - and thought oh-oh - until I realised it was the Mac Open evening. The skies were clear enough in patches for some fun - but I was knackered - hope people went and had fun!

I went there with my LX90 and webcam. People were amazed seeing moon and Jupiter on the screen.

I had my dob there, the only drawback being that I missed the lecture. The sight of that 10 watt green laser was incredible. Some excitement, as the fire alarm went off just as the crowds were dwindling, resulting in lots of people assembling in the carpark around the scopes!
