This scope was purchased last XMAS, used less than 10 times, only venturing outside when in use.
It is a typical beginner newtonian, and the reason for sale is that I have upgraded to a grab and go arrangement of a short tube 4 inch refractor with GOTO. (lost one-quarter on an inch in aperature in the transaction.....and who says aperture fever pervails....... but also lost the secondary mirror obstruction.....so therefore maybe I am slightly up on clear aperture overall...)
In saying that the scope is targetted at the beginner, you are advised that it also presents a technical challenge in learning how to setup an equatorial mount (refer article presented by Brain Nolan on this site). I can offer a quick lesson to the purchaser if they collect the item, and it isn't that bad, especially for an EQ1 which does not have a polar scope.
It comes with a drive, but note that this has sometimes sticks on initial startup but simply turning the switch off and then back on appears to correct the issue and then it runs flawlessly for the remainder of the evening.
The primary mirror has been centre-spotted to assist collimation, but that given the focal ratio is a little forgiving in this area. Reason for undertaking is why not aim to get the best that a scope can deliver. Short lesson on laser collimation is also available when scope collected.
Included in the sale are the original Skywatcher 10mm & 25mm eyepieces and 2X barlow, plus I'll also include the Orion Deluxe Laser Collimator.
Condition is as new.
Selling price is $200 + freight
Would trade for Orion Shorty Plus 2x Barlow, and cost of freight offset.
Thanks for your consideration,
David
