Meade Autostar 497 controller

hello, I have just de-forked my 8" gps LX 90, consequently have a spare hand box. Thing is - reason I de forked telescope was that the Meade mount kept cutting out and then wouldn't slew. So is this the same issue with your mount ?
My personal feeling is that I underpowered the meade with a cheap 2.5A adaptor with shonky connections. Anyway, now my scope is deforked and awaiting some plates so I can put it on the eq 6. Hence spare handbox.
If you want to give it a go.....
PS I also have the rare meade #909 module that was the original meade / guider/ camera interface. -not using that now either.
I am up for a swap of some stuff if you have any good items that you would like to barter. Any books on Spectroscopy, good reading science or sci-fi books ( no sword wrangling or "I am Duke Ni, of the Ni'eth' brethren, once of a planet from the system Smeg-ma" type of books) No frigging zombies or vampires either.

Hi Graham ... looks like you could be my saviour!

I do have various possible swap items, and like you I read science and non-fantasy SF, but I'd rather pay actual $$$ by direct bank transfer or PayPal as it's less complicated.

My 497 has lengthy periods of blank LED screen, with keypad inoperative. Bintel (via phone) thinks it's dying and not fixable. I'm sure your 497 will be OK ... sounds like all your problems are to do with your your mount.
