jupiter 11th Oct: first light for DBK 618

I got the beastie in yesterdays post, so I still don't have a clue :question:
On the testbed (inside) I was getting near 60fps but on Jupiter I was getting near half that with (as far as I can tell) identical settings.:shrug: The seeing was good but not great at around 7/10. I ducked out again a bit later as the GRS was due to show, but cloud had rolled in :mad2: Probably a good thing as I had to be up at 5am for work :screwy:
I was too tired to try any fancy processing so this is pretty much as it came out of Registax V6. I still have lots to process yet but it might take a while as Reggie spits them out unless I VDub them first :shrug::help:

Looking really good Rob - you have to be pleased with that.

re the frame rate - had the same issue with my mono 618 (at 60fps and 1/60s, it ran at about 30 fps) and got the reply below from TIS. Maybe the same workaround will do the trick for you. The old version of ICCap works OK and they also gave me a different version again, which does not seem to have appeared anywhere else - PM me if you want to try it, but the 1/61 workaround is fine.

"The problem is caused by a bug in IC Capture. All versions 2.2.x.1005 and above are affected.

We will fix it as soon as possible. In the mean time, there are two possible workarounds:

1. Set the exposure time to 1/61 . (If you use the property dialog, you can click into the
text box and edit the exposure value by typing in the exact time).

2. Use IC Capture version 2.2.x.1000, which I will upload to this ticket right now."

Also, if you are not already using it, give Castrator a go if you want to reduce R6 AVI processing time - it centres the planet and chops off dead space around it to make R6 run much faster.

Congrats on the DBK Rob, certainly a different animal to the ToUcam.
I am sure you will sort it out. The higher frame rates and extra sensitivity should help a lot.

I have been using Castrator for some time and think it's of real benefit re. processing time.
But none of my avi's would load into either Castrator or Reggie unless I put them through V Dub first??
Wierd thing is that it was running at above 57fps in the house ?? before I went outside. Also I know that Asi is running his at 60fps.
It would be worth trying the early software as the version I have won't allow me to edit the fps box in properties or any where else??
TIS don't seem to have any early downloads. I have version 2.2 ??
I have a feeling that it may be solvable:shrug: I'm having a play with it now:rofl::screwy:

I think I have cracked it :rolleyes::screwy: if I keep my exposure times short it works OK

Don't foreget Rob you are using a smaller image scale too. The larger the image scale the less frames per second you will get as the light falls away. Try using a larger image scale to get the most out of any good nights that may come along.

Yes Thanks Paul! I was just glad to get something on the chip first time out :) The Camera is so much more sensitive that I will have no trouble increasing the scale on a good night :thumbsup: Now where did I put that 10X Barlow:rofl:
