View Full Version here: : Reiner Gamma + a soft Jupiter

Reiner Gamma has to be one of the oddest features on the moon. It is not a crater - just an albedo feature on the flat surface. It looks like someone has dribbled a line of flour across the surface and then dropped the bag - and that might not be far from the truth, since the impact of shattered comet dust and debris has been suggested as one possible way that it might have formed. This feature is associated with a magnetic anomaly that may be strong enough to deflect at least part of the solar wind, so it could be a good place to establish a lunar base. Have to try for a hi res shot when the seeing will support it.

The seeing was not really good enough for Jupiter, but it was certainly worth a try. I just got a new PC and until I get a screen calibrator, have no confidence at all in the colour balance - any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking. Regards Ray
