I see Lomo 105/650 in classifieds and also Takahashi FS102. The Lomo costs more by little amount, for photography of DSO which is better to buy?
Lomo is triplet, Takahashi is doublet but has good reputations.

Are you are going to use the scope for astrophotography I would go with the LOMO, I see that it comes with a FeatherTouch focuser and at f/6.2 it is a faster system than the Tak at f/8. Also, the LOMO's focal length of 650mm as opposed the 820mm focal length for the Tak you will get a wider FOV with the LOMO. The LOMO's sliding draw tube makes the OTA a compact unit and would be an ideal travel scope.
That's my two cents worth.

Doesn't that long draw tube lead to some vignetting, effectively stopping down the aperture??? (Was an issue with some early Stellarvue scopes.)

I don't see a Lomo 105 ad in the classifieds? Where's that?

On its way to me :)
What do you think of the Lomo Greg? And don't be afraid to be brutal, I've already spent the money ;)

I think you chose well.
Lomo have a great name. I didn't see the ad so I don't know what tube and mechanicals you have gotten but the 105/6.2 is a good lens. TMB designed air spaced triplet right? It probably is OK4 middle element (the Russian equivalent to FPL53).

I'm not sure of the tube, but it has a feather touch focuser. I'm looking forward to getting to grips with it all.
It will be my last scope purchase for a very very long time, so I hope it works out!
It was this one:

It looks very nice.
Perhaps you can post a review of it once you've used it a bit.

I've owned both and would go for the LOMO in a heartbeat. Superb optics in every aspect. The FS102 is no slouch but IMHO the LOMO beats it.
just my 10c worth

I'll definitely post a review once I get my head around it, and if anyone in the blue mountains or central tablelands wants to have a go with it for a night or two, I'm happy to lend it out.
