I realised that I hadn't tried the Tarantula with the ATIK11002M and NB filters. Here is the result of a play with 8x10min subs in each of Ha, S2, O3 and mapped RGB for fun. No it's not a Hubble. I wanted to see what different blends did to the levels of detail.shadow.highlights. SInce I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve as far as processing goes, I don't feel uncomfortable having a play.
The scope is the EdgeHD 14" at F11, OAG and just DSS for stacks, CS5 for some blending.
And for those with a taste for Hubble S2,Ha,O3 blends - here is the same information in braille, so to speak.

Enjoy.

Hi Pete with a monkey head :P

Some nice details there

I like the first one the best, the second is showing the effects of the SH tool. Not that it is bad or anything, just that for some reason I'm not partial to that look if it is avoidable  (:screwy:?)

It does look a bit like a Tarantula (http://members.pcug.org.au/~stevec/ngc2070_STL6303_RC_Hubble_palette_n o_spikes.jpg) by Steve Crouch though.

As Mike i like the first image the most.
It has a nice softness to it and doesn't look over processed.
All in all a excellent tarantula.

Great photos Peter.

They bring out so much detail.

Great stuff Peter. You're way up the NB learning curve past me (which isn't hard BTW). Any chance of RGB versions anytime soon?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have reprocessed the S2,Ha,O3 version to see if I can escape what Mike didn't like about the second image. I must say I much prefer the softer result of the second attempt.

Very nice Peter. Great detail but like Mike I do like the sharper detail in the first image.
