I am testing the waters here to see whether there is any interest in one of my most treasured refractors - a rare Vixen FL80S.
I am told these scopes are now regarded as collectors items and their optics in terms of correction for CA and contrast are legendary.
For those unfamiliar with this scope it is a fl 640mm f/8 80mm refractor with a Japanese made real fluorite crystal objective lens. The scope comes with original Vixen tube rings, extension tube and 6x50 finder (non Vixen). I will post a few photos later in the week.
I am asking $800 including PPH anywhere in Australia via registered post with insurance.
If interested please send me a PM only
Please do not add any postings to this listing.
Thank you for looking.

In response to a PM the FL80S feature 2" focusers which have a 1.25 screw on adapter for 1.25 diagonals etc. Until I get my camera back on Thursday the following link shows what a FL80S looks like

Hi Brian,
Thank you for the very kind words. Based on various web discussions part of the uniqueness to these Vixen FL models appears to not simply be the fluorite element (akin to Tak) but in the later ‘S’ models (i.e. first were the original FL80 and thereafter were the FL80S) Vixen started using their own very specific formula for the matching glass element to mate with the fluorite crystal element in the objective. I have certainly had my fair share of Fluorite, ED and FPL lens refractors (Tak, Vixen, Televue, WO) over the years and, IMHO, when simply looking through the EP I haven’t come across any that could match the contrast and hues of colour/detail (i.e. planets) that these can achieve. If you go trawling through the A&T website they still list their old Vixen price list and these FL80S used to be a staggering AUD$2600 when new. I am only selling because I am determined to cull down my collection as I am simply not getting time to use them.
Cheers

Okay - had many inquiries but no firm buyer.
I would like this scope to go to a good home. So - please send expressions of interest/offers on what you would be prepared to pay.
Thank you.
