Comet Gerradd.

Only had a small chance to get some images of this comet before it slips away to the west.Only managed a few subs,only three were to my liking,and one dark frame.So all up only 12 minutes of subs.

My third attempt at using DSS.seem rather niffty,Not sure how to do comets with lots more subs,as the comet moves,when all stacked -it would be 'higgly-piggly'?

Anyhow-will be the last chance to grab some frames,as the moon is on the skyline more from now on.

Nice shot Chris. Pretty sure there is software that will allow you to stack centred on the Comet, but then of course the Stars trail, but it allows a clearer view of any detail in the Comet. A bit out of my field, but I'm sure someone here can tell you.

DSS has "Comet Mode" where you can choose different ways to stack the comet.

Been a very difficult road this AGing,so just pleased to get an image like this.A few more subs would have been nice.I'll look at the feature you mention jjj in DSS,still very new to it.Although what you mention may be well beyond me.

I hope I get a chance to collect more images tonight,but its very windy,and a few clouds that could stormy,and the moon is making more each night:(,just when I finally look like getting somewhere.

I used a Canon 450D for this image rather than 50D,doing the dark frame adjust in DSS gets rid of amp glow,and I figure is there is a derailment,I'd rather the 450D go off,than the 50D which I will now just use for birding and regular photography-really cannot see much difference for night photography.
