Hi all,

While up in the Burdekin region in North Qld this week I took advantage of a low western horizon, and was able to spot a 21.5 hr old crescent Moon on the 28th September. The first image shows the Moon, and the second shows the Moon with Venus about 5 degrees to the North (which made it much easier to find the Moon!)

Images taken with 50D and 70-200 telephoto.

Cheers,
Stephen

Great shots Stephen,I like #2 the most.

I planned to do this type of shot-had the 28th marked in diary and the location sorted. But the clouds were about and I missed out, hopefully next new moon.

Top pics thanks for the view. Plenty of haze up there too.

Thanks for the comments Chris, Rob, Mike and Derek! It was nice that the clouds co-operated for these shots. (The "cloud" in the first image is actually smoke from a nearby cane fire.)

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice work again Stephen,
I never get tired of looking at a thin Crescent Moon.

Beautiful view! I love crescent moons. It's always spectacular when you spot it against a twilight sky.

Thanks Geoff and Rolf. It's certainly easier to spot thin crescents like this when Venus is nearby!

Cheers,
Stephen
