Clear skies at New Moon!!
Seeing wasn't much chop, but who cares. :)

This image comprises of approx 2.5 hrs of data. A mix of 8 minute, 3 minute and 30 second subs, all at ISO 400.
Camera 550D
Scope ED80
Mount HEQ5Pro
Stacked in DSS and processed in CS3.

I dare say I'll be doing a few repros on this one, as you do. LOL

Feed back always appreciated.

Nice effort that JJ could possible lift the colour a bit IMO

All looks pretty good JJJ.
Needs more saturation in my opinion. (I like lots of color these days:))
I had a fiddle with one of your images (hope you don`t mind) gave it a good saturation boast and gave it a red curves tweak...Gives it the more modded DSLR look.
I would love to see it after a few repros like mentioned!

It was very blue wasn't it.
I've done a bit of a tweak to tone it down. And lifted the pinks a bit too.
Just between you, me and the lamp post...
I'm more partial to the images out of unmodded cameras, they have.....what's the word....colour. Not fond of the over redness.

I'll nab me some more data tonight when I get home from my school reunion. Another 2 hours should really lift the image, allowing me to do more work on it.

Oh this is a lovely vista JJ..... you are doing wonders with your ED80!!
Love the fov you're getting and like the way you collected 3 different exposure lengths and the mixing.
Shows you are thinking all the time about the objects you are recording.

I agree with Gaz, crank up the red channel to give a bit more balance...
But really, I do the like the look with more blue than normal...
Some thing different :D
When all's said and done, it's an imagers prerogative to have license to their own image:P

Keep up the great work!

All the best
Rich

Great photos Jeanette.

So sharp and detailed and very low noise.

I really like the natural look you have acheived.

Ross.

Nice view of the great nebula JJ. You are getting in early on this one before the flood comes. All the best.

Wow JJ, stunning work.

I love the fine detail and the misty look :)

I actually like your original versions with less colour. Dunno why, they just look great.

So I'm home from the school reunion. (31years since finishing year 12 omg)
Dragged the covers off the mount and have just started the new run.
Gathering more 3 minute shots for the Trap first, then I'll catch some more 8 minute subs.
The temperature here is 4 degrees and dropping, so the noise levels should be pretty low. :D

Very nice work JJJ. I'm with you on the modded versus unmodded DSLR thing. Yes they capture more detail but I like colours other than red, red and more red.

Great shot JJJ. The ED80 frames those 2 so nicely!
There's so many ways (and all tough) to interpret the view, but agree also about the OIII blues coming through in many objects with a DSLR - that's what our eyes tend to do after all too.

Must admit I would have tweaked the saturation a bit more too, but heck we're all becoming multimedia addicts expecting instant WOW these days aresn't we, perhaps too much at times?
(Was reviewing some of Martin Pugh's work last night and found myself a little surprised at the subtle use of saturation in much of his work)
