I did, seven's coverage gave no justice to the events, just because we were not in a lot of them. I just couldn't get enthused with them, and is was a give or take, not a must watch event!
Anyway it fissled out last night with yet another delayed telecast:confused:

I do enjoy those winter sports but i could not get into the coverage as i thought they could have done a better job of it (IMHO) Bring back Eddie the Eagle i say. :)

I enjoyed what little they broadcast, compared to the summer games it's quite a spectacle. They should have had Roy & HG as well, big omission IMO.

I love all sports even when Australia is not involved but this winter games were crap.....watched the first few nights then lost interest real quick.
Knowing the results in the morning then having to wait till that night to get any coverage put me off.

Ithink the media restriction kill the inerest.
Even the Herald (SMH) did not report.
I used a Swiss Tabloid Website to keep track.
the winter olympics were the best sporting event of the year so far!!! man did thye rock! I was like trapped daily watching the sk8ing, jumping, etc... glued to the never ending action on the screen!!! :D
how about that part where the presenter said that completely unforgettable line of which i will never forget:
presenter: "Hi."
man that was a classic! that will live on in our memries for ever.....

i love the sports, albeit not a lot of time due to work and a certain obsession with an unnamed forum..
but yes it was a flop!
bring on the world cup, now that will be great, although who is doing the broadcasting. SBS did a great job last time from memory. The commercial stations can only stuff it up!!!

What winter olympics. Sorry didn't happen for me. Every time I tuned in the tv went into automatic avoidance and switched to another channel.

Don't bet on it h0ughy.
Unfortunately it's not the nice soft fluffy stuff they get down south. It's usually has the time to melt and refreeze by the time it hits the ground. If you think Canberra can be a miserable place in winter you want to try Stanthorpe.
Anything with Johanna Griggs is enough to make me switch off. Overall I thought it was pretty average.

I agree 100%
No live feeds, no daytime highlights package - is this the 21st century, or what???:screwy:
Channel 7 should think seriously before hosting another major sporting event IMO.

Here in the United State we had the usuall excellent coverage by NBC sports. I watched quite a bit and enjoyed it very much.
I used to live just down the road from one of the 3 Olympic training centers here in the U.S. Needless to say my enthusiasm has been good because of that.
whos hosting the commonwealth games?
please dont say 7, please dont say 7, please dont say 7...

I must say I thoroughly loved the Winter Olympics, and have every time its been on that I can recall.
But the coverage by Ch7 was a disaster. It was delayed 24 hrs (or there abouts) giving everyone else the ability to give you the results. It was on late at night where they could have put it on at any time as it was already delayed. There was an enormous number of adds. And worst of all they spent 3/4 of the coverage on ice dancing. I mean I like watching girls parce arround in not much (funny watching the guys do the same does nothing for me), but only for so long.... we dont even compete in it as still thats all they showed. Events such as Ice Hocky barely got a mention (which is far more exciting that ice dancing), even the finals was trimmed to crap and were played about 3 days late. How about some coverage of the blue ribbon events such as the downhill, again edited to nothing.... I think someone at Ch7 should take some note of their audience (there is more than ice dancing at the Winter Olympics).

cheryl loved the figure skating but i put in the same class as synchonised swiming :P
its craziness :P
I have to agree with a number of comments already posted.
I thought the coverage was a disgrace and as far as I can be certain she's a lovely person I'm afraid Johanna Griggs is not the person I want to see grinning/giggling back at me every time I flick to Ch7 to view its meagre offerings.
Is she the network's female equivalent of Ch9's Eddie McGuire or what?! How many shows does she host/appear in? And really, I'm not sure her talents as a commentator are proportional with her degree of exposure.
Just my opinion. Probably a mile off the pace.;)

At least the Nine network, with their sporting track record, should do the Commonwealth Games justice.
Austar/Foxtel payTV are offering around 6 dedicated channels to the C.G. for an additional $50 or so, to your monthly subscription price.
I don't get to watch too much TV, so I won't be forking out an extra 50 bucks. However, I'm hoping for a decent daily highlights package :prey: on ch 9.
