Hi all, got another go at this last night just before the cloud came in. This is 18 x 5 minute exposures with Astro 40D at ISO 1600 and Takahashi 160mm F3.3 Epsilon Astrograph. On the left is NGC 6992 and NGC 6995 at bottom left, with NGC 6974 to the right. This whole area is laced with nebula and the UHCs filter brings out the acqua and red colours well.

Next I will try the Witches Broom, that is just outside this FOV.

Thanks Trevor for your comments. At first I tried to balance the background colour, but then I realised the left background has a red cast and the right region a acqua cast, which I thought may be due to faint gas that is filling inbetween the outer filaments. I may be wrong and will look on to see what others say on this.

All the best.

yeah your probably right may be a result of more filament in that region

Here is an enhanced version to bring out the fainter nebula regions.

The more I looked at this last image I thought it was too blue. So as the weather here has been ideal for reprocessing, here it is.

Hope you like it too.

Every image reproccessed just gets better and better, I mean I thought the first image was a drop jaw...but opening the others? Nice Lester.

Huge FoV Lester. Its great to see such a large expanse of the Veil. I like the rendition with the corrected background. The vibrancy of the nebulosity in particular. Well done.

Very nice Lester. It produces a very sharp image for such a wide field. Colour still seems a bit off but I would be more than happy capturing this one, this well.
Great job. Can you send over some clear skies, I think all the Victorian PMX's must be in Aus.

Thanks Doug for your comments. Yes the Tak does perform very well. This image was captured with a UHCs filter and by the extra contrast it added, I will stick with it, and that being the reason for the colour being different from the norm. Clear, still, moonless nights have been a rarity here also for the past 4 months. Hope we can all get some good dark clear skies soon.
