I managed to pick up the very new moon last night in binoculars just after sunset. I didn't note the time, but it was around 8:15pm (EDST). How many hours after the new moon would that have been?

Worked it out... apparently the new moon was on the 8th at 22:28 UTC, so I caught it about 35 hours later. Not as impressive as I initially thought ;-)

An extremely thin yellow crescent here as well.

I saw an almighty thin crescent waning moon just before it went new, at about 5am on the 8th (I think). Looked stunning.
