For anyone interested, I've uploaded some videos from a recent Karate tournament held on Sunday.
They're embedded in a post on my blog (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/2011/09/22/results-from-the-bbma-tournament-2011/) (with my blurb and images), or you can view them on my youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/mikesalway1975) (the last 6 videos).
I had 4 fights in 2 divisions, and won all of them. The level of competition wasn't as high as other tournaments, but I was fighting with confidence and it was still a great day. Got some takedowns and head kicks, so a good day out :)
I also performed 2 Kata, and they're also on the same links.
Thanks for watching.

Looks like you're keeping fit there Mike. Entertaining watch. Good work.
Baz.
Nice work, Mike! You need a lot of fitness for sparring.
I got my black belt in my early 50s but haven't done any martial arts for a few years now. Brings back old memories as I used to enjoy the sparring.
Regards, Rob

Thanks for watching guys.
I enjoy the sparring too. At 36 i'm not going to be rushing the state teams but I enjoy the challenge and keeping fit.

Nice one Mike http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/../vbiis/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif
36 is classed as a veteran!?
I'm the same age as you and a Wing Chun practitioner and I certainly don't class my self as a "veteran", My Sifu's teacher told him once that you don't hit your prime until at least 50!

Thanks Ken - yeh it sounds funny saying 'veteran' but over 35 yrs is veteran these days.
There's lots of young, fit and athletic 18-25yr olds doing the rounds but we can still keep up with them in some ways.. older and wiser :)

thanks for sharing iceman. I practised taekwondo for many years (got my black belt)....really feeling nostalgic when I see the video.
Now I am teaching my little boy the basics (he is 4, still too young to go to a formal class)

Hi Amalia, thanks for watching and replying.
I think martial arts is a great sport for kids. I bet your son enjoys learning with you!
